This 1984 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 is a one-off prototype collaboration between Callaway Engineering, Bilstein, Recaro, and BBS. Work involved installed BBS aerodynamic valances color-matched to the Signal Red paintwork along with gold BBS RS 15″ alloys, developing a turbocharger kit for the 2.3-liter inline-four, installing Recaro seats re-trimmed to match the Palomino interior, and fitting Bilstein dampers. A claimed $100k was spent on restoration work over the last few years, and the car is further equipped with European-specification headlights, a custom MOMO steering wheel with an inset boost gauge, H&R springs, a custom exhaust system, air conditioning, and more as described below.
Finished in Signal Red (568), the car was fitted with BBS side skirts and a matching front valance as part of the original work.
The trunk-lid badge was refinished and reattached in August 2026. There are paint chips in the front grille.
The suspension incorporates Bilstein B8 dampers and H&R springs, and service completed in 2022 included replacement of the sway-bar bushings, steering damper, strut mounts, and associated front suspension hardware. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with rebuilt calipers, replacement rotors, brake hoses, and a new brake master cylinder. The brake fluid was flushed in August 2026, and the rear suspension received new upper control-arm bushings.
Three-piece 15″ BBS RS wheels were rebuilt as part of the work and mounted with 205/55 Yokohama tires.
