The car features fiberglass bodywork atop a Volkswagen Beetle pan and is powered by a 1.6L air-cooled flat-four fitted with a Weber carburetor, dual-port cylinder heads, and a dual exhaust system. The open cabin houses brown leatherette–trimmed bucket seats, and shifting is through a four-speed manual transaxle. Further equipment includes street lighting, drum brakes, and 15″ American Racing wheels.
Founded by Jim Kellison in 1954, Kellison Cars was a California company that produced various fiberglass sports-car bodies and kit cars until the 1970s. Primarily known for their J-series sports car, one of the company’s final offerings was a Ford Model T–styled dune buggy known as the Super-T.
The fiberglass bodywork of this example was reportedly repainted using polyurethane marine paint as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Halogen headlamps and fender-mounted turn signals up front are paired with brake lights and turn signals out back.
The staggered-width 15″ American Racing wheels are mounted with 215/60 Atlas front and 295/50 Road Hugger rear tires. Braking is from four-wheel drums.
A three-spoke steering wheel mounted to a quick-release hub fronts a 120-mph speedometer with an inset 8k-rpm tachometer as well as a combination gauge. A previously installed five-digit 90-mph speedometer has a five-digit odometer that showed just over 19k miles. The retrofitted digital odometer now indicates 38 miles. Total mileage is unknown.
