About this car

This 1998 Mercedes-Benz E430 wagon is a Japanese-market Avantgarde wagon that was modified in the style of an E55 AMG before it was imported to the US in March 2026, and over $7k of subsequent work included fluid changes, servicing the transmission, and replacing the driveline mounts, fuel pump, filters, lower front ball joints, and assorted brake components. Finished in metallic black over black and gray leather, the car is powered by a retrofitted 5.4-liter M113 V8 linked with a 5G-Tronic five-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes Avantgarde lower bodywork, a sunroof, fog lights, roof rails, heated power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a Continental Bluetooth stereo, and AMG-branded interior accents.

Black metallic paint finishes the body, and exterior details include Avantgarde bumper covers and lower bodywork as well as roof rails, an electric sunroof, fog lights, tinted rear windows, a rear wiper, E55 AMG rear badging, and AMG-branded twin exhaust outlets. Additional photos of the exterior condition and paint meter readings are viewable in the gallery below.

The wagon rides on a lowered suspension, and the 18″ AMG Monoblock alloy wheels are mounted with 245/40 front and 265/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. Replacement front lower ball joints were installed, along with new brake pads and rotors at all four corners in August 2026. A four-wheel alignment was also performed that month.

The cabin features heated power-adjustable front seats upholstered in black leather with gray inserts, while wood trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. A Continental Bluetooth head unit has been installed, and additional appointments include a microsuede headliner, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a rear cargo partition net, and a retractable rear cargo area cover. A set of floor mats will accompany the car.

The leather-wrapped AMG steering wheel frames an AMG-branded 280-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 61k kilometers (~38k miles). A Mitsubishi toll reader is mounted to the left of the steering column.
