About this car

The Burnt Orange cloth and vinyl upholstery was redone in the 1990s, and the rest of the vehicle was refurbished in 2009. Finished in Dark Burnt Orange Metallic, the Dodge is powered by a 440ci Magnum V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a black vinyl roof, Rallye 15″ wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, power windows, air conditioning, center and overhead consoles, an AM/eight-track stereo, Rallye gauges, a Rim-Blow steering wheel, and the Light Package.

Dodge built 733 examples of the Challenger R/T SE with the 440ci V8, a four-barrel carburetor, and an automatic transmission for 1970. Finished from the factory in Dark Burnt Orange Metallic (FK5), this car was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment, which involved use of a rotisserie. Exterior features include a black vinyl roof covering, R/T graphics, quad halogen headlights, a Rallye hood, hood-securing pins, a driver-side mirror, a flip-up fuel cap, and quad rectangular exhaust outlets.

The roof has an SE-specific smaller rear window plus Dodge “fratzog” and SE emblems on its C-pillars. The chrome bumpers have overriders with rubber inserts.

Rallye 15″ wheels are mounted with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires measuring F60-15. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the steering also is power assisted.

The cabin has color-coordinated trim and carpeting, and woodgrain trim adorns the instrument panel, the center console, and the door panels. Other interior appointments include power windows, air conditioning, a six-way-adjustable driver seat, front and rear lap belts, and supplemental front shoulder belts.
