About this car

This 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner was refurbished and underwent a color change under previous ownership before it was displayed in a museum according to the owner, who bought it at auction in 2002. The car is finished in red and white with color-coordinated upholstery and is powered by a 352ci V8 linked with a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. Equipment includes electronic ignition, chrome 15″ smoothies, front and rear seatbelts, and a Sony cassette player. The car is described as a running-and-driving project that will need rust remediation on the floors along with repairs of the transmission and top.

The Fairlane 500 Skyliner was introduced for 1957 as a mass-produced car equipped with a power-folding hardtop. This example was finished from the factory in Indian Turquoise and Snowshoe White and has been repainted in red and white. Exterior details include hooded quad headlights, dual side mirrors, tail fins, chrome bumpers, chrome window surrounds, and side moldings. Evidence of repaired collision damage is noted at the left rear, and rust is noted on the bumpers and underneath the floor pan beneath the driver’s seat. The retractable hardtop does not currently operate.

Chrome 15″ smoothies are mounted with Broadway 215/75 M+S tires.

The cabin houses front and rear bench seats that were reupholstered in red and white vinyl under previous ownership. Additional equipment includes a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, carpeting, front and rear seatbelts, a Sony cassette player, and side-panel mounted speakers.

The three-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and fronts a sweeping 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. A Sunpro auxiliary voltage gauge has been added. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
