This 1998 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution is one of approximately 2,700 examples produced. Finished in Sophia White over black cloth, it is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 linked with a five-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, a locking center differential, and limited-slip front and rear differentials. The truck rides on 16″ Deerfield wheels and is equipped with an Evolution-specific front bumper and flared fenders in addition to dual hood scoops, quad fog lights, a roof spoiler, Recaro front seats, a CD stereo, and automatic climate control.
The Pajero Evolution was introduced in 1997 after being developed as a homologation model for the 1998 running of the Paris-Dakar Rally. This example is finished in Sophia White (W09) and has an Evolution-specific front bumper with quad fog lights in addition to flared fenders with front cooling ducts. Other features include a fender-mounted mirror, window rain guards, a roof spoiler, dual hood scoops, side steps, and a tow ball. The windshield is cracked and dents, scratches and other blemishes around the vehicle are presented in the gallery.
The 16″ Deerfield wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich tires, and a Bridgestone Dueler tire is housed on the rear cargo door. Braking is handled by four-wheel anti-lock discs.
The right-hand-drive cabin houses Recaro front bucket seats and a split-folding rear bench trimmed in black cloth with patterned inserts. Interior appointments include a Kenwood CD stereo, automatic climate control, Pajero-branded floor mats, and power windows and locks. An aftermarket Kenwood speaker is mounted atop the dashboard. The driver-seat bolster is torn.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 180-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. A compass and readouts for battery voltage and oil pressure are mounted atop the dashboard. The six-digit odometer shows 140k kilometers (~87k miles).
