About this rvs & camper

This 1990 BMY M931A2 is a five-ton former US military vehicle that was converted to an overland-style truck with the addition of a camper cabin by Plan B Trucks of South Willard, Utah, in 2017. Finished in red and black bedliner material, the truck is powered by an 8.3-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six linked with an Allison five-speed automatic transmission as well as Rockwell dual-range transfer case and axles. A retractable awning is positioned on the camp side, and other equipment includes an electric winch, LED lighting, a diesel-fueled air heater, and a 14k-btu air conditioner. The camper is outfitted with a galley, a dinette, a kitchenette, a fold-down couch, two additional sleeping areas, and wet and dry baths. Power equipment includes a solar panel array, a lithium battery system, charge controllers, an inverter, and shore power connections.

The M939 was a five-ton 6×6 vehicle that was designed in the late 1970s to supersede the M39 and M809 series of heavy trucks and was later offered in various different configurations for use by the US military. The M931A2 was a semi-tractor variant that featured a fifth wheel as well as a 167″ wheelbase. This example was outfitted with a camper cabin finished in red and black bedliner material. A steel front bumper with an electric winch was also added along with LED lighting and a total of 9 solar panels are mounted on the camper roof. Other features include a pintle hitch, a power-operated awning, pop-out windshields, sliding windows, and utility connections for power and water. The driver-side window glass is shattered.

The black-finished 20″ steel wheels incorporate a central tire inflation system (CTIS) setup that allows on-the-fly tire-inflation adjustments for optimal traction on various terrains. Stopping power is provided by air brakes. A collection of images showing the truck with the new tires is presented at the end of the gallery.

The forward cabin is outfitted with a pair of air-ride captain’s chairs from Seats, Inc that are trimmed in black cloth. Square-weave carpets line the rear bulkhead, while black rubber linings cover the footwells. Additional details include a Kenwood stereo, air conditioning, and a rearview camera system, the latter of which does not work.

A two-spoke steering wheel fronts vehicle control switches and a central instrument panel housing a 60-mph speedometer, a 4k-rpm tachometer, and a suite of auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 22k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
