About this truck & 4x4

This 1985 Jeep CJ-7 Laredo has spent a total of 34 years in California and Florida, and it was the subject of a refurbishment in 2018 that included overhauling the 258ci inline-six and five-speed manual transmission, performing a repaint in Sebring Red, and refreshing the interior with black vinyl. Additional details include a dual-range transfer case, side steps, and a padded roll bar.

The CJ-7 featured a wheelbase that was 10″ longer than that of the CJ-5. This example was repainted in Sebring Red (3B) with replacement Laredo graphics under prior ownership. Additional exterior details include aftermarket bumpers with D-ring shackles as well as a receiver hitch, side steps, hood latches, and black wheel arch flares. Photographs of paint-meter readings are shown in the gallery below along with some imperfections.

The truck rides on a 4″ lift kit and black-finished 15″ American Racing eight-hole wheels, the latter of which are mounted with 33×12.50″ Cooper tires that were installed in December 2020. A matching spare is affixed to the aftermarket swing-out rear carrier. Additional modifications include a custom front driveshaft, a reverse shackle kit, and a drag link flip kit. The front torque shaft and sway bar links were changed in December 2020.

The front bucket seats and folding rear bench have been reupholstered in black vinyl with silver accents during the refurbishment. Additional details include a padded roll bar and a locking center console.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts an analog clock and an inoperative tachometer, while central instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer with inset readouts as well as supplementary gauges. The five-spoke odometer has been reset and shows 3,200 miles. Total mileage is unknown. The gauges for coolant temperature and oil pressure do not work.
