About this car

This 1959 MG MGA 1600 is a Mk I roadster that is said to have remained in a barn for over four decades before being removed in 2015 and refurbished through 2018. Work as part of the body-off project is noted to have included repainting the body blue, re-trimming the interior in gray leather, rebuilding the 1.6L inline-four, and more as detailed below. The car wears Lucas driving lights as well as a black soft top and rides on 15″ steel wheels coupled with lever-arm shocks at all four corners. The engine breathes through dual SU carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission.

The car was repainted blue as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Further details include a fender-mounted mirror, Lucas driving lights, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The car is not equipped with a soft top.

The silver-finished 15″ steel wheels wear bright hubcaps and are mounted with Coker Classic whitewall tires. The car is equipped with a rack-and-pinion steering system as well as an independent front suspension with coil springs and hydraulic dampers, while braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The lever shocks were rebuilt and the brake cylinders, rotors, pads, shoes, and lines were replaced in the course of the refurbishment.

The refreshed interior houses bucket seats upholstered in gray leather with blue piping, which extends to the cabin surround and center armrest. Interior appointments include a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, a heater, and crank windows. Replacement wood floor panels were installed as part of the refurbishment.

The four-spoke banjo-style steering wheel is mounted to an adjustable column and fronts Jaeger instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 32k miles. The gauges were rebuilt in the course of the refurbishment, and 1k miles are said to have been added since completion of the refurbishment. True mileage is unknown.
