1959 Autobianchi · United States · Lender-owned, lien released
This 1959 Autobianchi Bianchina is a Trasformabile example with a black soft top as well as blue and white paintwork. Power is from an air-cooled, rear-mounted 479cc Type 110.000 inline-twin linked with a four-speed manual gearbox, and equipment includes a single carburetor, painted 12″ steel wheels, black upholstery, lap belts, and sun visors.
Based on the Fiat 500, the Bianchina was produced by Autobianchi from 1957 through 1969 in various body styles. The Trasformabile featured a fixed roof profile with a retractable soft top. This example is finished in blue and white with a black soft top. The windshield wipers are not connected, and signs of corrosion are noted around the headlights.
The car rides on white 12″ steel wheels and was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with a transverse-leaf setup as well as rear trailing arms and coil springs. Braking is provided by drums at each corner.
The cabin houses bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl, and interior equipment includes lap belts and sun visors.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a Veglia instrument cluster that features a 70-mph speedometer with suggested shift points. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles.
